Mike Werle of The Children's Museum Provided an Update at our Meeting on November 21
Mike graciously filled in at the last minute and we thank him for that, But it was also fortuitous timing, as the museum has made its move to a temporary home in Emmanuel Synagogue on Mohegan Drive.

As you may know, the museum finally had to leave its prior location on Trout Brook Drive. The property had been sold for use as upscale apartments. The old building had a lot of issues, not only maintenance wise, but in accessibility. The new location is in the back of Emmanuel Synagogue and houses a smaller version of the museum and the Children's Museum Pre-School.

And, it works. The space is intimate - perfect for small children. You don't get distracted by the space, rather you can focus on the exhibit and the teacher. The move allowed the Museum to choose the best exhibits including many animals and dinosaur statues. Unfortunately, the quarters are not in the least bit accessible because of stairs going up and down - not everything works out perfectly. Future plans are aimed at establishing a new museum in East Hartford that will be up-to-date, accessible, and close to areas of need.

STAY TUNED!
