Dignity Grows

Hygiene Insecurity may be almost as important as Food Insecurity
Our speaker today was Jennifer Schwartzman of Dignity Grows. The Hartford Branch is one of 57 chapters in the country. initially the organization's mission was to provide feminine hygiene supplies for women in need, but they have expanded their role to provide a back pack with a month's worth of all hygiene supplies including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.

Lack of these supplies may affect up to 30% of women in need. The problem is especially significant on college campuses. And now, with the increased prices of food, the need is even greater.

We had a great discussion and likely, West Hartford Rotary will be sponsoring a 'packing party' in the new Rotary year.
