MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF
January 13, 2014 - 12:15 PM

Bruce Stanger gave the invocation talking about setting big goals followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

During lunch, Hap began the meeting with announcements, starting with:

• No meeting January 20, 2014 due to observance of MLK holiday
• Gave an update on the January 19 end polio now event
• Eileen spoke on the Rotary Foundation and passed around a sign up sheet for donations
• January 14 2014 is the 62nd anniversary of the WH Rotary’s inception
• Hap recapped some people who have thanked our group for some of our donations, including a $100 donation on behalf of Polly Hincks, American School for Deaf, Wheeler clinic, Shelter Box, Town That Cares, etc
• Bob Korr and Kyle Egress with an update on the Vines of March, TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE!!

Sargeant at Arms, Todd Bower reports 24 Rotarians, ____ visiting Rotarians and 4 guests are present. Guests and visitors are: Ron Mancuso (guest of Hap), Kelvin Young, Todd Desmond (Hartford Rotary)

Happy dollars were collected by Mark Tamacio: Sue Chandler officially a member of the club, White Elephant event,

The 50/50 raffle is up to $40, with no winner today. We are looking for 3 of spades.

Dave Lemkuil introduced Darren Drum of Advocacy Unlimited. Darren spoke about:

Ways that their group advocates for their patients including protesting for a local family whose daughter has been held. Darren then told his personal story about his issues of obsessive compulsive disorder and how he overcame his illness through treatment. He battled gambling and alcohol addiction before going to rehab in FLA. His group established a wellness center that opened two months ago in Hartford

The meeting was adjourned at 1:30, with Dave Lemkuil leading the 4-way test. The next meeting is January 27, 2014 (NO MEETING 1/20) at Pondhouse Cafe.
