Dues Increase

Sigh - Everything costs more in 2023. Because of this, and the gradual decrease in the size of our club, our club treasury has become anemic. It was so shaky this year, that we delayed our Tavern Night and had to think twice about any promotional materials or gifts. So, taking a hard look at the budget, the first step will be to raise dues by $5.00 per month. Then, we'll still be frugal about our spending, and hopefully will build a reserve in our Club account.

Our dues pay for the weekly rental of the Pond House, Alex (our personal waiter), our meal, items like banners, awards, and pamphlets, our Rotary International dues (including your Rotarian Magazine), Quickbooks, and more.

Again, our charitable account, the Service Chest, is doing very well. But those funds cannot be used for any club activities. The money given and raised at our charitable events all goes into that fund and is only used to support our causes and events. The Club account is entirely separate.

Thank you for being a member of West Hartford Rotary. Please, be involved. I know you joined this club for both the fellowship and the many good causes we support. But you need to show up! And, we need to know what projects you want to do. Rotary International runs from the bottom up - the clubs are the key to its existence - you are a stakeholder and we are all "on the committee."
