Tom Wood and
Joe Stafford
Up the Paul Harris Count

Paul Harris +3 +2 x 2!

Our meeting on October 2nd was highlighted by the presentation of two Paul Harris Awards.

Tom Wood, who has now turned over the Treasurer reins to Kris Lucke, received a PHF+3 for all of his work. When Tom took on the job, he had a lot of work ahead of him:  Our accounting system was VERY informal (it was actually a little worse than that, but we won't discuss it in polite company - it's all well in the past). Suffice it to say that Tom cleaned up the books, incorporated credit cards and portable readers, tracked everything to the penny, and provided the Board with very detailed reports. Plus, we now keep a portion of our money in CDs and market accounts. Bravo, Tom!

And what a pleasure to present a PHF+2 to longtime Rotarian, Joe Stafford. It was a surprise to all of us. Joe's generous gift to Polio Plus put him over the top to receive his second sapphire. Congratulations, Joe!

Remember, your contributions to the Rotary Foundation come back after three years to benefit the Club. Here's how it works: Your donations to the Rotary Foundation are invested for three years.  After 3 years, 50% comes back to the District in the form of District Designated Funds (DDF) and 50% goes to the World Fund. The Rotary Foundation consistently earns four stars from Charity Navigator. They keep the overhead extremely low and you can be well-assured that the money is wisely spent. IMO, it is one of the best places that you can make a contribution to.
