The Immigrant Experience in West Hartford
What a pleasure to have Pramod Prahan, Librarian at the Faxon Branch Library, as our guest on Monday, October 2nd.
  • We live in a town where at least 80 languages are spoken.
  • There are 1000 Nepali residents of West Hartford.
  • Some of our other large ethnic groups are Japanese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, and Russian.
Our West Hartford libraries provides ESL volunteers, Citizenship Coaches, Immigrant Teen Clubs, and a place of learning for our residents.

Welcoming immigrants is just one of the many new roles that the West Hartford library fulfills. There are many adult programs and clubs, a maker space, and scads of online offerings. Not to mention, the libraries have computers for internet access and yes, books. Lots of books!
