Mike Zaleski and Riverfront Recapture

A project that started in 1981 keeps growing

Our January 22nd meeting was magical. We had many guests and an awfully interesting presentation by Mike Zaleski, CEO of Riverfront Recapture.

Many of us remember when the Connecticut River was considered a cesspool only fit for carrying sewage to Long Island Sound. Over these many years, the river has been cleaned up, access restored, and now an extensive network of walking and biking trails are established beside it.

The project is expanding Northward and to the East. Further expansion of the park is planned, especially in Windsor.

Mike reviewed the many recreational programs that are taking place along the river and the walk and how the mission of Riverfront Recapture keeps expanding. More information can be found here: https://riverfront.org/history/
