Steve Leon Passes

Steve Organized the Wine and Distributors during the first ten Years of Vines of March
I'm sorry to have to pass this along, especially in light of the successful 12th Annual Vines of March event. Steve was instrumental in getting the "Vines of March" up and running, and coordinated the wine tasting and vendors for the first ten years of the event. Steve was the former owner of Wine Cellars 4 near the reservoir.

From his obituary:

Steven was a steadfast presence in the liquor business for over 40 years, proudly continuing the family legacy as a third-generation liquor store owner. His dedication to excellence and innovation helped shape the landscape of the Connecticut liquor industry; he served as the president of the Connecticut Beverage Association and as a member of the Connecticut Package Store Association. This earned Steven respect and admiration from peers and competitors alike.

His commitment to service extended beyond business, as evidenced by his involvement in various community organizations, including the Rotary Club, where he was honored with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award. He worked tirelessly to support local charities, embodying the spirit of giving.

He took immense pride in bringing people together and made a profound impact on a number of different communities across Connecticut, Maine, and Florida. Between organizing the 50th reunion for the Windsor High School class of 1972 and driving around with the Mustang Club of Daytona, Steven truly embodied the mantra of, "Once he knows you, you are a friend for life."

Thank you Steve. Your efforts have resulted in the funding for many wonderful projects in West Hartford and beyond. We hope you are enjoying some fine vintages in the great beyond.
